The Sixth Annual Bayou City Breeders’ Expo (BCBE) will be held June 18 & 19, 2005 in Houston, Texas at the Clarion Inn, located at 500 North Belt East, between Imperial Valley Dr. and the Hardy Toll Road. The Clarion is very centrally located, just minutes from Greenspoint Mall, Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and downtown Houston, with excellent room rates for us ($59 per night if reserved as part of the BCBE) and all the amenities of a high quality hotel. Please call the hotel directly at (281) 931-0101 to make reservations.
Adult admission is $6 and children under 12 are just $4. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to non-profit herpetological organizations dedicated to herpetological conservation and education.
This show is strictly CAPTIVE BORN AND BRED herps and herp-related goods only show - NO WILD-CAUGHT OR FARM RAISED herps, no ferrets, hamsters, gerbils, birds, fish etc. This assures you of the highest quality, best value animals and goods available, since you are most likely dealing with the breeders! There will be approximately 50 eight foot tables available at the BCBE, all in one 5000 square foot rectangular room. Since there is a good amount of PR that is going out for this show, both locally and in the reptile magazines (I have hired the person I consider to be the best PR man in the area to coordinate this), the BCBE should be extremely well attended. Due to a larger advertising budget, there will be a few changes in the application process.
Tables will be on a first paid, first reserved basis at $110 each including electricity. Price will increase to $135 each if received after May 15, 2005 - NO EXCEPTIONS. Two vendor passes will be allocated for the first table per vendor, and one additional pass per additional table. Every effort will be made to honor special requests for specific table locations paid for by May 1, 2005. After this date tables will be assigned by the expo organizer.
All vendors must sign and agree to abide by the rules and regulations as detailed in the Vendor Application. The rules and regulations must be signed and returned with your application in order to reserve your tables.
As with all trade shows held in the state, each vendor, whether a person or business, must have a Sales Tax & Use Permit provided free by the Texas State Comptroller’s Office. You are responsible for collecting sales tax on each sale that you make and for reporting your sales to the Comptroller’s Office. This is required by the Comptroller’s Office. You should plan to have your permit with you at the expo.
Also required for anyone dealing with Texas native nongame animals, including herps, is the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department’s Nongame Permit. Please check out the Houston Herp Supply website at www.houstonherp.com for determining your specific requirements to conform to the regulations. You are responsible for having a copy of the required permit(s) with you when conducting business.
We hope this answers your initial questions about the Bayou City Breeders’ Expo. Please contact us with any additional questions you may have, and we look forward to seeing you there!
