COPY OF LETTER INCLUDED WITH NONGAME

DEALER PERMIT APPLICATION

Dear Sir or M'am,

This information and application form are sent in response to your request for a permit to purchase and sell nongame wildlife or parts of nongame wildlife. Included are the rules governing Nongame Collection and Sale Permits. A Nongame Dealer Permit is required to purchase for resale wildlife listed in (TPWD Regulations Section) 65.331, entitled Affected Species. These rules do not apply to dead mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes or parts thereof.

If you do not intend to sell animals you have purchased, but rather wish to sell animals taken from the wild or those raised by you in captivity, a Nongame Collection Permit would be appropriate and may be obtained from any vendor where hunting and fishing licenses are sold. These collecting permits are also required if an individual is in possession of: (a) more than 10 specimens of a single species or subspecies of nongame wildlife and/or (b) more than 25 specimens of nongame wildlife in the aggregate.

Fees for Nongame Dealer Permits are set by the Parks and Wildlife Commission. These fees are currently listed as $50 for Texas residents and $200 for nonresidents. Permits are issued to named individuals only And so will not be issued in the name of a particular business. To obtain a Nongame Dealer Permit, return a completed application form (attached) to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Nongame Permits Section, 4200 Smith School Road, Austin, Texas 78744. Once obtained, the permit should be displayed at your place of business. If you conduct business at sites other than your permanent business address, you are required to carry a photocopy of the permit while off-site.

Records of business transactions must be kept current and available for inspection by an employee of the department if requested, and an annual report must be filed with Texas Parks and Wildlife by September 15th of any year in which a nongame wildlife permit is valid. If additional information is needed regarding the requirements for this permit, see the enclosed regulations or contact the department at the address indicated above or by telephone at (512) 398-4481.

Sincerely,
