If you are considering ordering a minimal order, such as a 25 lot of mice, you may want to reconsider. The cost of shipping frozen goods starts at about $30, so it is not economical to ship $15 worth of mice. Those 25 mice would end up costing $45, whereas if the order is larger the shipping would only increase by a small amount. For example, 100 mice would run about $100 including shipping.
There are several methods of shipping frozen rodents, including Overnight, Two Day and Priority Air Freight.
Overnight - This is our preferred method to ship smaller frozen rodent orders. Orders are shipped late afternoon and are generally received by noon the following morning. Orders are packed with sealed bags of regular ice, so that the package does not involve Hazardous Materials such as dry ice in an air shipment. This is all packed in a sealed styrofoam container, then the styrofoam container is packed in a cardboard box. The most reliable and inexpensive method for overnight shipping is via USPS Express Mail, and charges start at about $30, depending on weight and destination.
Two Day - This method of shipping includes USPS Priority Mail and UPS Second Day Air. It is less expensive than overnight shipping; however, the added time in transit means that dry ice must be used instead of regular ice. The added cost of the dry ice usually offsets the savings from two day service, and overnight service is generally more reliable, so this is our less preferred method of shipping.
Priority Air Freight - This involves shipping an order via a commercial airline, such as Delta. Their Delta Dash service usually gets the order to the nearest major airport on the same day it is sent. Also, Delta Dash service runs a flat $62.69 for all single package shipments of up to 50 pounds and $83.94 for up to 70 pounds. On the good side, their service is VERY fast and reliable, can be tracked at any time while in transit, and is a good value for larger orders. On the down side, Dash service can be expensive for smaller orders, and the order must be picked up at the airport.
