Drosera capensis

This sundew is arguably the best beginner's plant! As with all species of Drosera, the leaves are covered with dewy tentacles. These sticky tentacles capture small insects, and even move together to trap the insect and pull it down to the leaf surface, where it is digested. Occasionally, the leaves will even roll up over slightly larger insects!

As they mature, the lower leaves die back and the top continues to produce more leaves. Eventually they produce a stem crowned with long leaves, making this sundew look like a miniature palm tree!

We currently carry well-started plants in three-inch pots. We do not sell sundews bareroot, as we believe the minimal savings versus potted plants does not outweigh the good possibility that bareroot sundews may not survive the shipping and transplanting.
