Pinguicula moctezumae
Plant shown is representative of our plants in
3-inch pots.
This is another easy-to-grow butterwort, and is great for
beginners! However, this species is not commonly available, and qualities are limited. Get
them while they last!
As with all species of Pinguicula, the leaves are covered with sticky dew. Small
gnats and flies get caught in the leaf coating, where they drown. The leaves
are quite interesting, in that they are long and thin, rather than the more rounded
appearance of most other butterworts!
As they mature, these butterworts produce beautiful
purple flowers. This is a real beauty to behold!
This tray of butterworts isn't selected for
photographing; this is what we sell!
We currently carry well-started plants in three-inch pots. Many
are already producing flowers! We do not sell butterworts bareroot, as we believe
the minimal savings versus potted plants does not outweigh the good possibility that bareroot
butterworts may not survive the shipping and transplanting.
